Surprisingly, this 'Orange dream' in a very shallow pot didn't suffer any leaf scortch though it's in full sun from 9:00 till 17:00, and even gets the last rays of sun after 20:00. What's more, it's one of those that gets black spots on the leaves every year. I checked and I only found a very small one on a single leaf.

And I haven't spotted any fungal infection on the leaves of my other maples. Cool spring, isn't it ?

The leaves are even much more yellow than the light green on the photo.

@Luke’s Maples, Hi Luke, Ruby stars Summer colour has that blend of green and reds. A lot of reds turn green completely by July but this one doesn't. My 2019 photo I just sent to zfritz earlier was in July.

This arrived in the post today. I have wanted one for a few years but never saw it anywhere.

Peaches and Cream. I love the colour and reticulation. So vibrant and delicate. The pink tips...

@Luke’s Maples, wonderful Luke, another beauty for your ever growing collection. It does need protection against the sun though I have found.
Who did you buy it from?

How do you figure @Acerholic? These seem to be distinct maples, they are not listed as synonyms in the World Checklist. I hear plenty of US people referring to Peaches. Or do you mean Ruby Star? Vertrees has Beni Hoshi as a synonym, so I guess that's what you were talking about!

Hi Acerholic, we have peach & cream too. Beni Hoshi is not reticulated or in the ghost family, are you sure?.

Good morning @zfrittz, after your question last evening, I took these this morning so you can see more clearly the brightness of a Skeeters broom close up and of whole tree. I've also added Purple ghost as I know you like this one so you can compare a very dark red and a bright one. Took the last one for Luke aswell, @Luke’s Maples .

Back in November of 2017, I bought a JM on sale from a local nursery that had a Higasayama tag. When it leafed out in 2018 it was obviously mis-marked and I thought maybe it was a Sango since the leaves looked similar based on size, shape and color. However, I have three other Sango's that have various shades of red bark but this imposter seems to have brown and yellow bark and the leaves now are a darker shade of green. Also the general shape is not an upright vase shape like the others and wider at the bottom than the top.

It's not a big deal since it looks great and is really healthy this year. But I'm just wondering what the hell it might be. Could this be a Bihou?

@dangerine49, Hi J, It looks like it to me. I've added photos of mine. If yours gets a lot of die back, I think you've found it lol.
The wind is blowing hard atm so apologies if it's a bit out of focus.

Hi Dangerine, the leaves look closed to Bihou leaves but one thing stands out from Bihou is the color of its trunk and yours look very closed to yellow. Are all of the branches have the same bright yellow color?. Here is what my Bihou looks this year.

My Tsuma Gaki is refused to turn green even now. I have never seen it carries this color before. Photos are taken today with a light rain.
