I know it is a slow growing small/dwarf cultivar but I am curious as to what size you possess...any "larger" (4 feet or more) specimens in your gardens? A picture or two would be excellent.

Hi copperbeech, I don't have a large Fairy lights at all. It's only 2 ft tall. But WOW what a tree. My family and friends when visiting always make a point about how lovely this one is in my collection above many others. If you are considering buying one then do so you will not regret it in the slightest. It's quite slow coming into leaf.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply Acerholic. If I can inquire further:
    • I know it is about 2 ft in height but what about the width
    • How long have you had it?
    • Is it in the ground or in a container?
    • Any chance you have picture(s) you could share?

Mine is only 3 years old and still in a pot. I will add a Summer photo and Autumn photo. It's still very narrow and very 'slow growing'. It is one of the best Japonicums I know of for vivid Autumn colour.
I have seen Charlie Morgan on Amazing Maples with one on YouTube and his was only about 4ft tall. It was after seeing his that I new I had to buy one. He has done a lot of videos so unsure which date it was.

The largest one I have seen is Charlie's at Amazing Maples. As stated above, it was about 4'-5' tall. Mine is almost 2' tall and is very slow growing. Fall color is incredible.

Hi bub72ck, yet another fan of Amazing Maples. Looking forward to Charlie's April instalment. Agree with you, Fairy lights is 'very slow' growing.

Charlie has an incredible collection of specimen trees. It is a great resource to see what many will look like in mature size.

Hi bub72ck, Charlie Morgan and his YouTube videos are the reason for me purchasing many more maples than I should have. Yes what a collection he has!!!!

Just yesterday I placed a deposit for a "Fairy Lights". Something to look forward to seeing in the late spring.

Hi guys. I have a Fairy Lights on order from Hippopottering. I'm super excited! I believe they also have Harvest Moon available.
