Found on my new acreage (2)

    More. There are some very wet areas and we found a few marsh type plants that we knew, but more that we didn't know. As things bloom we will take more pictures.

    Closer views would be good, so far the third looks like a Geum to me.

    First one looks like a defoliated (deer?) Aralia nudicaulis.

    Yes and yes!! We thought it might be Caltha but have not seen it at that stage. Is that pre or post blossom? I'm going to love learning all about the flora of the area!!!

    Nope. I can see it's not that. But I will get better pictures.

    Ooooh. That is a distinct possibility!!! I will have to look around more. There are lots of similar looking leaves.

    It's post-blossom. It will be one of the first things to bloom in the spring. One of my favourites.

    It is so cool!! That would also explain why I had seen "similar" things a couple of weeks ago.

    Hm, I think Ron was right! It is really a Geum (macrophyllum?), beacause of the sharp edged sepals, etc.
