I get to see it in Honolulu. Come visit me!
Does this YouTube link work any better?

Never mind, I see it created the exact same link.

Scots pine with root ball. Started as a tiny one, goes back outside in a pot for @51 weeks/year, and family got a larger entry door to bring the 300 lb. tree in each year. It's now a large globular shrub that's been through fire and disease.

Out of curiosity, if one tags the check mark in the upper left to save it to your "watch later" youtube account, does that enable it to be viewed? If not, this is the Inside Edition video on it. Family Has Been Using the Same Real Christmas Tree for 34 Years

...edited to change archaic common name. Thx for the heads up, Michael.

@thanrose: spellcheck: Scots. Please correct. The spelling 'scot*h' is offensive to people in Scotland (with the single exception of whisky).

Should have used Pinus sylvestris to begin with. Blame it on holiday laxity.

Here is link to Daily Mail story, my original source:
California family keeps Christmas tree alive for 34 years | Daily Mail Online

There are numerous Google entries under this topic: I hope that everyone who desires to do so will be able to view the video on one of them, at least!
Although I am not conversant with same, I daresay Facebook might bear fruit. (Or cones!)

Again, my best wishes to all.

This is all amusing but instructive. I concur with the use of binomial nomenclature for any species ID. As Wendy noted, the video and the people in it use the offensive term. That set the tone for my faux pas.

We encounter many things in life that could be handled more sensitively. I, for one, would never equate using what we euphemistically refer to as the N-word with any other perceived derogation of origin. Obfuscation is never my intent, but often the result.

And my grandpop grew these on his tiny Christmas tree farm.

Would any one like a bonbon? Togata? Chimera? Thinking I might hit the eggnog in front of my Pinus sylvestris, bedecked with holiday cheer and warm wishes for Peace on Earth and that Goodwill toward Men, only updated a little to include the entire species.

The first video link from togata and yourself don't work for me, but the next ones, from thanrose and togata, work well. Have a nice holiday Wendy.

Thank you for the kind offer, thanrose. How about an extra-strength aspirin? Make it two.

Hey folks...my SOLE intention here was to share what I found to be a cheery Christmas plant-related story. It touched me...as it reminded me of my mom and dad and a tiny Pinus strobus they brought me from NH, many years ago. It is now a giant tree in my front yard in Ohio.
Mom and dad are gone; the cabin in NH has been sold.

And whoa nelly not all US residents are insensitive ignoramuses.
In fact, last year my daughter married a Brit, with whom she lives--- in England. Y'might say I in fact do have a personal and quite active interest in what goes on in the UK.

And not all of us equate sweeping generalities with true knowledge.

    Peace out.
