My sister sent me a picture of a broad leaved evergreen shrub she is trying to identify for a friend. It was left in a pot on her property on Salt Spring Island, near death, but has since been revived. Now she is interested in knowing what it is. Can anyone help identify the plant? Thank you so much ! IMG_1657.JPG

I wouldn't have thought of pomegranate. I haven't seen a plant (only the fruit), but I will check them out on line.

It does look like pomegranate that I see online, but to my knowledge Punica granatum is deciduous.

Oh my word, I just contacted my sister about the plant she would like identified and it turns out it may be deciduous. Lesson learned about making sure the person asking me for help, knows the difference between deciduous and evergreen plants. Lol. No wonder I was having difficulty identifying the plant. Thanks for all your help. It very well could be a pomegranate - if in fact it is deciduous!
