These photographs were taken October 30 along the Puget Sound shore of Seattle. Can you help me identify the flower species please?

    Thank you.

It was growing wild along the shore. Is it just a plain domestic rose?

Extra petals point to hybridity, stems are like R. nutkana but leaves (and perhaps flowers) appear to have R. rugosa characters. As there is a vast range of garden roses of diverse parentage this could be a named garden form that was planted there deliberately or got there by some other means. Otherwise a spontaneous cross with R. rugosa may be possible, at least two other apparent examples of this are known on uncultivated sites in the region. But in both cases the resulting plants have single flowers.
