These plants were growing right at the edge of a lake at Bernheim Nature Preserve in Kentucky. We asked a lady passing by who professed to knowing plants very well what it could be, and she said, "it looks like marijuana!" It definitely does (at least to us). Anybody know what this really is?
We just spent 20 minutes looking at various photos of that plant on the internet and reading descriptions, and if it is not this plant I will be very surprised! From what I read it looks like this plant may be native to the Cyprus region. Does it grow in your area?
You are absolutely right. This deciduous shrub is an indigenous species of Cyprus. I have seen this plant several times in my region. Also, pale purple flowering one grows freely behind my garden wall and it' s in flower now.
