I'm actually trying to find out how to kill weeds in fern beds. My mom lives in Alabama and has ferns in her yard, w/ weeds all over. She does not want to kill the ferns and does not know what to get. Can anyone help with this..?

    Thanks....:)

This is not the answer you want....There is no easy solution.
    We have a similar problem.
Hand weeding to remove as much weed as possible. ( If there is Convolvulus amongst them, grow it up a bamboo cane for a while, then unwind from the cane and spray the leaves with a Glyphosate weed killer.Inside a plastic bag if necessary. This takes the chemical right back to the roots)
A water if necessary. Followed by a really good thick mulch of composted bark. Each handful tucked under the fronds of the ferns, as they are carefully held out of the way.
It helps to suppress the weeds, and the ferns really appreciate this TLC.

Wouldn't pulling the weeds out by hand and adding a weed killer like Preen work?
