    Hi All,

Ive looked long and hard an finally found a Staghorn Fern! I have already read up on how to care for it and how to mount it. Thing is this one does not have a Shield leaf on it. I am wondering if it should already have one? Despite this little guy being in a pot, it is growing and has alot of little pups growing at the base. Any info is very welcome! :)

The type of Staghorn fern you have there is called "Netherland compacta" they have very small shields and don't get the very deeply lobbed leaves like the regular staghorn ferns. If you were anywhere closer to ottawa I have 2 staghorns that need a new home.

Thank you so much James D. :) I gather I can leave it in its pot? It seems happy. Perhaps a orchid mix for the soil. I would love to mount it though. I wish I did live closer I would be by in a flash to take your ferns :)
