Hi All, Could someone help me to id these two trees? They are both very pretty at end of summer early autumn, changing color to red/purple from dark green. Thank you, Karoly
1. and 2. Looks like Parrotia persica. Common name Persian Ironwood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrotia_persica http://images.google.com/images?q=P...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi 3 and 4. Looks like a trifoliate Acer. There are a few that all look rather similar. Sorry I cannot say which yours may be. I cannot see the flaking bark... so think that rules out Acer griseum. It might be A. triflorum, A henryi, A.cissifolium,A. mandschuricum or Acer mawimowiczii.
Thanks Silver Surfer, I believe Parrotia persica is correct for the first tree. Regarding the Acer, you mentioned the flaking bark. This tree is about 6 foot tall, very narrow triple main stem, and for me looks like it is flaking. Please see attached picture, in larger size for better identification. So do you think it is Acer griseum ? Thank again! Karoly
Yes, Acer griseum. I couldn't see that on previous pics. http://images.google.com/images?q=a...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
