Different Philo Leaf Colour

    I found this on a demolition job I was quoting and, naturally, had to rip a piece off. I really like the colour difference in this leaf. I'm going back to get the whole plant, before it goes to the dump!!
    Anyone seen this before...

    Yes , Philo 'Sunburn' Ed , looks burnt from sudden full sun after being in the shade ..

    I don't think so Mick. The plant looked quite established and had been growing up a tree in between 2 buildings. One of the leaves with this colour was nearly under the building in full shade. The whole plant seems to have leaves like this. Its not burnt at all, the leaves are in great condition. Do you think it might be some mutation or something?

    no the leaves are more brownish, maroonish...

    We have something similar here; it's naturally that rusty colour. To my great disappointment, the cutting I took reverted to regular green. It may have something to do with soil conditions (I am assuming here that yours started out terrestrial and was climbing the tree like a totem.)

    Go back and get the whole thing, but make sure you get some of the dirt it was in.
