Is that a secretion from the plant, or is the wet gleam from rain, etc. ?

I think it could be some sort of fruit, just starts to grow, maybe some sort of vegetable in early stage, like summer squash (Cucurbita sp.). Am I right? Kozel jarok az igazsaghoz? :)

That's the swollen part of the petiole of Trapa natans, commonly called "water chestnut".

Your reference to "fruit" is interesting as crazyjohny, in his thread asking for help in identifying an unusual fruit he found on the shores of Lake Ontario, gave an accurate and succinct description of the unusual fruiting body of this aquatic plant, and some nice pictures.

Jé, szia! Hát, sajnos nem annyira közel... kb. mint én a Te múltkori növényedhez... :)

Hm... no, but a great idea!!! Really... just like my brilliant "Polygonum" idea was... for your "Francoa" plant... :)))

YES!!! It's the "leaf-airbag" :) of Trapa natans... It's a protected plant here, but I know that in other countries it could be an invasive weed...
