      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<i>Acer amamiense</i> T.Yamaz is anew species from the  Ryukyus in Japan. <i>A. amamiense</i> is described from Isl. Amamiohshima, the Ryukyus. This species resembles <i>A. diabolicum</i> Blume, but differs from the latter in having glabrous petioles and under surface of leaves, and fruits covered with sparse short hairs without bristle hairs.<br />
Classified in the endangered species list of Japan. Pictures taken at Tsukuba Botanical Gardens.<br />

Closely related to the Sugar maple and all other maples in the sugar maple complex. Jalisco Maple Split off from Acer skutchii a few million years ago.<br />
Its a very tall tree that thrives in oceanic climates, native to Southwestern Mexico,  occuring most frequently near the town of Talpa De allende and another population in Autlan de Navarro.]]></content:encoded>

He had one growing in the garden that was slightly larger but not large enough to get a sense of a mature form. It exhibited an extremely weeping habit and it had lost a few branches due to recent windy conditions. The leaves are sturdy and handsome.]]></content:encoded>

The description in Yano&#039;s book says that this cultivar was introduced in 1996: &#039;The leaves are flushed red, turning green. The secondary bud is red. <br />
Mine was purchased bare root by mail about 2 months ago and looked rather sparse at the time. It has had quite a big flush of new leaves since then.<br />
<br />
I placed it on the east side of my house where it receives early morning sun and shade from about 11am onward. I believe with more sun, it would be more golden than it currently is. I’ve read that this cultivar is very sun tolerant though with 100F plus temperature I don’t want to chance...<br />

I have two ‘Miyadono’. The first was purchased from An online nursery in mid June 2022. When I received it, it was late at night and I couldn’t spend much time examining it. My initial impression was that it looked like any other  standard species Acer buergerianum. <br />

The next morning I disappointedly went out to the garden to pot it and noticed that almost the entire tree was actually growth from the rootstock!  The scion was only a 3” long...<br />
