This yellowing happened only in the last 2 days. I've read hibiscus need a lot of fertilizer to flower. It was fertilized recently as it will flower in a few days. But why the yellow leaves at the bottom?

They're just old leaves getting ready to drop off! Nothing to worry about.

I recall something about WHERE green/yellow patterns on a "sick" leaf begin and end (i.e. veins vs. margins only).

The buds and other leaves do look fine though. Thanks Michael.

It's wet now after watering with a bit of fertilizer. I understand Hibiscus grow in bogs where native, so didn't think a heavy watering would cause a problem. It looked a tad wilted a couple of days ago, presumably from sunshine at the south window.
