Why is it against the rules to ship improved meyer lemon trees to Texas? I thoght all the problems were with the unimproved variety. can I buy one from a Texas nursery?

It is against the law to ship any citrus trees to Texas without a permit and a phytosanitary certificate--the same is true for all citrus producing states--FL, LA, TX, AZ and CA.

Any citrus variety that you wish to purchase, will have to be purchased from an instate supplier. No citrus nursery anywhere in the USA, out side of the state of Texas, can legally ship a citrus tree to you. This is to protect the Texas citrus industry for insects and disease. - Millet
