    Hi there,

I have had a very healthy weeping fruiting mulberry parked in my sunny driveway in a half barrel for five years and love both the profusion of delicious fruit and the lustrous leaves. In September I will be moving ot Bowen Island and would like to but another such specimen but when visiting nurseries on the Sunshine Coast a few weeks ago I couldn't find any kind of mulberry and someone said they were bad news. Any ideas about where I could find a nursery who would ship one to Bowen and why they have a bad reputation?

    Cheers

    Hello,

We have found one explanation as to why the fruiting mulberry may have a bad reputation. Mulberry is susceptible to Pseudomonas syringae pv. mori, a bacterium favored by cool, wet weather in spring.

The symptoms of this bacterial blight include:

    leaf spots
    distorted leaves
    infected, disfigured buds
    necrosis and dieback
    oozing stems
    stunted growth

Google search for morus victoria nursery

Google search for morus vancouver nursery

    Good Luck
