I received this plant in a basket 4 years ago when my son was born. It was abou 4" tall. Now it is over 4 feet tall, and I don't know what the heck to do with it! Can someone id it for me and perhaps tell me how to trim it down?

It has dark green almond shaped leaves with yellow speckles. The leaves attach directly to the stem of the plant, which is now very woody. (It was very soft when the plant was small....)

It looks like it might be a tropical plant. My sister keeps trying to get me to plant it outside, but I'm an ohioan. It's 15 degrees outside with a sheet of ice over everything. I dont think this plant will handle that!

I have to good pictures, but I couldn't figure out how to post them. If my description isn't sufficient, I'd be happy to mail them to someone....
