This is probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway . . . Is it possible to mimic the characteristics of volcanic soil with something like plain old potting soil? Could you add components, minerals, and nutrients to any soil to give it some of the qualities of volcanic soil? What if you used potassium and phosphorus rich fertilizers, and added ash or sulfur or whatever?

Would crushed lava rock be what you are looking for?
