    Dear all,
who can help in identifying this mold to the genus level?

    It comes from bird feathers.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Tretol,

This sort of identification is likely a sizeable job to work on. Do you have a mycology background?
    - Have you narrowed it down to any broad groups?
    - I see septate hyphae and think I see what looks like a clamp connection in one of your photos: Would you agree?
    - If not, do you see any other evidence putting this in a basidio- or asco- category?
    - Conidial structures?
    - The habitat is helpful: Were there any fruiting bodies present and visible without magnification?
    - Were there any macro-features that were diagnostic, eg colour, texture?

    cheers,
    frog

    Hi Frog,
thanks for the response. I have worked on bacteria but want to start with fungi. I will learn more about the are and try to aswer your questions later on.

Can you recommend a book/publication on basic techniques (how to inoculate, maintain, prepare a pure cultrue from a mixed culture etc.) and theory?

    Regards,
