The purple flowers are a Utricularia of some sort. There are a quite a number of species in south-east Asia, including south-western China. The key at http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=134270 would probably cover most species in Laos.

The other plant with star-shaped greenish flowers I do not know. It's a monocot, but I cannot place it in a family.

Utricularia was also my first thought, but the flower does not seem right. The calyx looks regular, not 2-parted, and the spur is nowhere seen.

Thanks a lot for the two upstairs! I also think it might not be Utricularia for the absence of spurs. It might be a member of Scorphulariaceae.

Scrophulariaceae is quite possible. I was hoping to match it to some Limnophila species, but not all of them are represented on the web and not all of them may be in "Flora of China".

Andrey and zhougong, you have exposed my shameful ignorance about flower structure of Utricularia! I should at least have picked up on the absence of a spur. My next thought also was Scrophulariaceae (in the broad, traditional sense), but I had not got as far as Limnophila. It seems a strong possibility.
