    The New Westminster Horticultural Society July meeting will be on Tuesday, July 14th, starting at 7:30 p.m.

    This month’s speaker is David Tracey on Guerrilla Gardening: A Call for Urban Beautification:

    - environmental designer: he has Masters in Landscape Architecture from UBC,
    - community garden activist: he is coordinating the Vancouver Community Agriculture Network project together with Vancouver and public health officials to create more community gardens, especially among people lacking access to healthy, affordable food.
    - writer: he is the author of Guerrilla Gardening: a Manualfesto

    If it is done with agreement of local authorities, it isn't guerilla gardening! That's planting without official sanction!

    There's a prominently located snow gum in freeway landscaping at a Seattle interchange due to guerilla gardening. Several were planted, one was successful.

    I think highway crews may have removed some of the others while they were still small. I saw a crew tidying up in the area not long after I heard about the planting.
