Tree ID ?

    Mother in law found this one across their dog walking path here in Duncan BC and no-one she has asked has been able to id the tree that the petals are from.

    When found, the petals were described as "celery green" with a red seed or vein in the middle. I'm sure this is probably a very common tree but do you have any ideas ?

    Hello,

    These are actually winged seeds (that is, there are no petals present), likely of Siberian elm (Ulmus pumila). Siberian elm is an introduced species to North America, that has become fairly weedy.
