    re: Arbutus menziesii - transplant?

    - I have a couple of "volunteer" arbutus -

    one is 8 inches
the other is about 24 inches

they have volunteered to grow in a spot where we are building a shed (the shed has to go there due to local bylaws etc)

they look nice and healthy that is for sure so it does bother me to move them - however, they will be done in anyway by the construction project.

i might give one to a neighbor who has similar ocean exposure (they already have some arbutus on their land so I know they can grow well there)

    --------------------------

anyone had success moving an arbutus?
    any expert tips / advice?

I read this older thread - I wonder if any updates re: success stories

and this thread with interesting info from Eric LaF. of the UBC Botanical Garden
