    Hello,

I didn't know what it was, but David Tarrant, a staff member at UBC Botanical Garden, identified it immediately.

The plant is commonly known as Mexican shellflower or the Mexican tiger flower. Scientifically, it is known as Tigridia pavonia. It is a member of the Iris family.

There is a lot of variation in the flower colour, as shown by a Google image search for Tigridia pavonia.

Thanks for the help in identifing the flower for me.
I now know how to care for this beauty.
I hope it flourishes in years to come.
I wake every morning to new flowers and new colors.
The blooms only last a day, But it's exciting to check every morning to see the next.
