In six years three semi dwarf Euro plum trees died quickly within 6 to 18 months of planting from cause(s) unknown. 5-Way plum died, replaced with Yellow Egg, died, replaced with Yellow Egg2, died. Last one left in ground more than 12 months. Top now dry and brittle. Roots now shooting vigorously and very strong and extensive. No sign of canker, black knot, or other disease on bark or leaves. Blossom normal. E Vancouver Island garden with very well drained soil and gentle slope, full sun, 1M diam bark mulch, regular watering. About 7 M away is 15yr old Victoria Plum with much canker, other diseases, and rip-out 2x by summer gales, and 5 yr old Brooks Prune plum apparantly disease free. Both produce good crops. I believe that is enough plum trees in same spot.

My question. Would a Jonafree apple tree be at risk if planted in same spot as the Y-E Plum?
