Stapeliad ID

    Could anyone help me identify this amazing stapeliad, I hope the photo was uploaded correctly (1st time user!)

    Looks a lot like a Huernia - I have a very-green-stemmed Huernia schniederana with similar "thorns" that are just extensions of the stem itself - not removable like a cactus thorn. Mine has small (1" or less) maroon star-shaped flowers with the typical Huernia indented "hole" in the middle, and a barely-there hint of sweet fragrance.

    Thanks Becky-they really are beautiful in a strange kind of way! If you want a really nice huernia try H. zebrina, the colour in the flowers are striking to say the least.
