I have this plant coming up all throughout a flower bed and adjacent garden bed. It looks like something that might have self seeded from last year, but I don't remember previously having anything like that. The other possibility is that it was in a mixed wildflower seedpacket that I sowed on a windy day???? The stalks are ribbed like celery, but the leaves have no smell. The closest I can find is Angelica ---but I can't figure how that would have gotten there, and it doesn't seem quite right. The largest of the many plants that are sprouting up is about 1.5 foot tall so far and it's been growing since late summer last year.

Liable to be something else in same (carrot) family, maybe a species of Angelica.

Angelica lucida would fit the description.

Native to cool, breezy hypermartime sites here, wouldn't expect it to like Sacramento - but maybe when it warms up later specimen shown will deteriorate.
