I acquired this plant from a relative who passed away. Originally, these little guys were potted with a much larger, developed specimen that coiled in the air like a snake. They had lived in a dark room with no water for untold years. Only one of these little stalks had a leaf. A garden-centric friend watched over the plants till I was able to pick them up, during which the large piece died... possibly due to shock from actually getting vitamins and minerals. I took the rest home and they have happily grown leaves for the past four months. Also, there are two different leaf patterns. I'm thinking it may be two separate species.
