    Greetings all,

Posting this for a friend who has this growing (?) on her Rosemary bed at home. She lives north of San Diego, CA in a semi-rural suburb on the edge of some wilderness.

Many speculate this may be a fungal parasite perhaps. Ideas? It looks like melted caramels to me.

If the image isn’t added properly, my apologies. I’m working from my phone. ☹️

Thank you in advance for any help!

It's not possible that something could have dripped onto it?

It is possible. I think she’s afraid to touch it. Perhaps I should recommend poking at it with a stick?

Yes, it really does look like melting candy or mustard dripped on the plant. It may be a slime mold. If it is a slime mold it will go away quickly. Keep us posted on what happens with this thing if you can. It really appears to be something one the plant, rather than something growing from the leaves.
