I am interested on this matter. But I need to know more: I need to know, how to grow them from the beginning, how to water, and just everything. Thanks!

"The Grape Grower - A Guide to Organic Viticulture" by Lon Rombough would be a very good place to start in my opinion. Do a lot or research before you buy any vines or chose a location.

    Also: http://www.bunchgrapes.com/

Thanks a lot for the book recommendation. But more answers welcome. I am in Jamaica, not all books are available here locally.

I wouldn't mind some hints and tips here in this forum. :-)

No, this PDF contains only the table of contents. But thanks still, so I know what I am missing (remember, I can't get to buy it here in Jamaica, Jamaican cards are not supported by most international e-commerce systems), ha ha ha!

Thanks for the link. Well, at first glance, I couldn't see there any instructions or guide. But I noticed that this is the website of a consulting company. I will look further into that website. Meanwhile, more answers are highly welcome. Links to online guides and detailed instructions would be fine! Thanks for all answers up to now! :-)

Sven, many fruit trees and vines require a specific cold period to initate the fruiting process. There is a lot of variation between varieties.

One thing I learned recently is that many of the Italian grape growers are buying lands at higher elevations due to the increasing summer temperatures in Italy (global warming?!). They are now starting vineyards at these higher elevations to maintain the taste qualities of the grapes. Do you know if anyone has tried to grow grapes in your area?

Mine grow well in the shade and are very productive -- so long as they are protected from the racoons!

Well, I am in Jamaica. Not in Europe anymore, since more than 10 years...

Here in Jamaica I don't know anyone who grows grapes, producing in jamaica is too expensive (due to the very high guardian cost factor, and theft protection). For many products, it is unfortunately much cheaper to import them rather than to buy their Jamaican equivalents.

Sven, what are you referring to here as "due to the very high guardian cost factor" ?

Due the ultimately high amount of crime here, every company is forced to employ the services of large security troops (security companies). Guardians. That raises the prices of operations here.

Grape's need no more than a 100 chill hours...
Tropics might be difficult for this.

As for the Raccoons I truly believe they love grapes like no other fruit...I've seen them pick at them with their claws and eat like a person does.
