Identification: recently found

    Can you assist me to identify this fungus? "Fingers" are about 5cm tall, the picture was taken Nov. 4, 2011 in Squamish.

    I've never seen one of these before but going through the keys in MD it seems like you have a Clavaria species of some kind? It's grayish-purple so what do you think about Clavaria Purpurea? Your samples don't seem to be clumping as much as the picture of C. Purpurea that I'm looking at so maybe it's something else.

    definitely Clavaria purpurea.
