I live in Nova Scotia and bought some potted dwarf sour cherry trees (Juliet, Cupid and Romeo varieties) last year and put them in some fairly large pots. This spring they seem to want to start blooming and budding but the blossoms and leaves seem to have stopped halfway and are starting to die, and many of them turned brown. The pots have good drainage, they're in full sun, and I have not fertilized them yet. Our spring has been cold and the snow and frost drawn out, with the last frost being about two weeks ago.. Could the last frost have damaged the buds as they tried to open?

Did they sit out in the pots over winter and freeze up like bricks?

I was told at the garden centre I didn't need to worry about them. But I did put them under the deck. I'm thinking that wasn't true and wasn't enough? So, yes. Are they beyond hope? Two of them are too big for me to carry.
