Both of my 30+ year old pt palms (one 6', one 9') bloomed for the first time this fall. When the blooms were finished and seed pods gone (collected), I cut the stalks down to the top fronds. Now they have an ugly stump in the middle of the fronds and no signs of new growth (it's been approx. 1 mo.). Will new growth eventually cover this up, or have I done a bad thing?

The Plant should continue to grow, it is prudent to not encourage winter growth, and allow the plant to rest/recover from the spent bloom. In March/April encourage growth...

Thank you for your response. I'll let it rest until spring.
