    Try this:
    http://www.kew.org/ask-kew/contact-us/index.htm

    Central Information Unit telephone:
    +44(0)20 8332 5655
    Main switchboard:
    +44(0)20 9332 5000

Heck, I'd email the Director, Professor Stephen Hopper, and the Head of Horticulture and Public Experience's Curator, Dr. Nigel Taylor.
(The web site says that email addresses are the first letter of the person's first name, followed by a dot, their last name, and @kew.org).

Get on the Kew site (thoughtfully provided to us by Junglekeeper, above) and search for individuals who might be able to help you, or to send you to someone who can. Persist!

This is more of an 'adoption' question.

I reiterate: worth a try. I cannot imagine that this august establishment would not be intrigued by a statement along the lines of 'Hello! I have a gigantic and healthy specimen of Strelitzia nicolae which I would like to GIVE TO YOU.'

If the attempt is made and shot down, well, then, some other idea can be pursued. Let not failure be assumed!

I refuse to accept the alternative---that this plant meets a sad end. To do so would be an insult to mad scientist's grandpa as well as being an outrageous waste of a lovely specimen. Could not someone of an official nature (i.e. from UBC) intercede on this plant's behalf?

I agree with "lorax" that it is Strelizia nicolae.
I guess due to the indoor condition the palm could not grow as it should.
