    Hi everyone,

I live in Praia, Cape Verde which is a West African country. I have been trying to identify and make herbarium of the local trees. In reference to this, I need your help to identify the plant I attached. This is called sabao feiticeira locally.

    Thanks

Can you add a close-up of the shoots and leaves, please?

    Hi,

again I could not make a suggestion without a more detailed photo. However, I can tell you that this is not "Sabão de Feiticeira". This name refers to Verbascum capitis-viridis , one of the two species of Verbascum endemic to Cabo Verde.

    boa sorte,

    Brian

Perhaps one of the phyllode-bearing Acacia species, such as Acacia melanoxylon?

    Hi,

I am sure that Michael is right - it is an Acacia sp....perhaps Acacia holocericiae, which is much planted in Cabo Verde?

    boa sorte,

    Brian

I think so too Brian, a friend of mine told me that these trees were planted by belgians. There are numerous trees of the species on Santiago island of Cape Verde.
