    To me that looks like the common Red Alder; but, if that's from Kamloops, it shouldn't be either Red Alder or elm.

    No, it's elm -- and if it is misbehaving, likely Siberian elm.

    Sure it is. I am sick of mine. It was sprouting all over my backyard until I removed the tree. Now, I am fighting the thickets sprouting from the stump.

    Elms have very rough leaves and a lopsided leaf.

    Your timing is interesting, we were out in the woods today and I ran across this Elm. I think it is Ulmus Pulima (Siberian) but since I am not very familiar with Siberian elms could someone please verify?

    affrodity - Do your leaves look like these? If so, definitely elm.
