I'm looking for a patio tree- nice spreading shape, fall colour, possible spring flowers, fairly drought tolerant...also quite fast growing!

You should probably specify the ultimate size for the tree you desire. Patio tree would seem to indicate a preference for a smaller tree. I would suggest our native vine maple (Acer circinatum) or serviceberry (Amelanchier Spp) as two possible contenders, along with kousa dogwood (Cornus kousa) or one of the many types of Japanese maple (Acer palmatum & japonicum).

If you are trying to get shade or block a view you may need furniture (patio umbrella) or architecture (arbor, trellis or fence) to get relief without waiting years for a tree to develop.
