    Name these two...

And for those with especially keen vision or huge flat screen monitors, what are the two trees on the hill top in the background?

    Right: Phoenix canariensis
    Left: Metallophoenix radiophonica

For the trees on the hilltop, I'd hazard a guess at an oak of some sort, maybe Quercus agrifolia, but you'd need to get up there and take some close-ups.

Ginger - I believe in convergent evolution...Please continue to post your photos and answers, even if they are confined to the Stumpers forum. I am sure that the quote from Mark Twain that you use as your signature can be evolved to fit this situation.

BTW- I live on Wallaby St. :)

I only showed my "displeasure" because you were, at the time, posting Stumpers to the Plant ID forum because you didn't yet have access to post new threads to Stumpers (see this post). I'm not quite sure why this was made into such a big deal - I complimented you on your enthusiasm and said I had to do a better job to figure things out that could be made special for long-time posters. Instead, you went in and deleted a number of photos from other threads throughout the boards (causing an hour or so of work for me to remove them). Using up my limited time did displease me, if anything.
