A detailed study has shown that the problem is caused by a combination of several different insecticides and (oddly) fungicides reacting together.

Bee loss, and general biodiversity loss, will only be stopped by a massive reduction in pesticide (insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc.) usage in agriculture.
