if it were not for seteminal reasons i would jusy cut it down.

i would like to start a new vine from the old one, the orginal vine is well over 40 years old.

how do i go about rooting a new vine?

i live in the south , mild winters.

any help would be greately appreciated!

i think i can help you! youre going to need a rooting hormone, you can find one of those at home depot/lowes year round! okay right now while the vine is dormant you have to cut one of the pencil thin branches off thats about 12 inches long at a diagonal angle. you want the branch you cut off to have 5-10 buds on it because those are going to be what produce the new leaves and stems and so on! after you cut the branch dip it in the rooting hormones then plant it in soil. i would do it to about 10 just to be sure and give whatever you dont use away. now you have to wait until spring and hope that you notice some new leaves! heres a video on how to do it if i confused you. the video is for roses but its the same technique basically! good luck
