Since the rains have arrived, and Fall is "really" here, I thought I should put out some information for those looking to increase their knowledge about fungi & their mushrooms and/or connect with other mushroomer-mycophiles.

Many regions have mycological societies (mushroom clubs), which offer mushroom focused talks and walks and trips throughout the year. In the PNW most activities take place in the Fall and a smaller set in the Spring, to match the fruiting cycles of fungi species in our area.

Our forum mushroom events listings section does not show every event offered by the local clubs, so I suggest checking out their websites and/or attending a meeting. Most clubs will allow you to attend a meeting or two to see if you want to join, and generally the membership fees are quite low. Benefits of membership include events/activities that are open to members only.

For South Coastal BC the main clubs are:
svims.ca - South Vancouver Island Mycological Society
    vanmyco.com - Vancouver Mycological Society

In other areas in North America:
CLUBS - North American Mycological Association
