I have currently picked up an interest on learning about the world of mushrooms. I own two books "Mushrooms of North America" by miller and The National Audubon Society's "Field Guide to Mushrooms North America". I live in PA and found some interesting mushrooms recently but am having a difficult time attempting to figure out what exactly this mushroom is. If someone could please be of some assistance it would be of great appreciation.
These look like old, decaying specimens of Black Trumpet mushrooms, Craterellus cornucopioides. Check MushroomExpert.com for more details.
Thank you very much, the both of you. I was pretty certain they were Black Trumpet mushrooms as well as observant of the mold growth on these specimens. Thank you for your input, being new at this does tent to raise a level on uncertainty. :)
