I am a national geographic photographer who does a lot of macro plant work. I was hoping someone might have an idea what these lichens are called. I took them in Fiji. See attached images. I have gone crazy looking on line for them. Thanks

I don't actually know of any lichenologists on this site. However, I do know someone who might help you out. Go to http://www.cmsweb.org/officers.htm, and find Ed's email address on the list. If he can't steer you in the right direction, hopefully he can put you in contact with someone who can.

You could also try these folks http://home.comcast.net/~nwlichens/nwl.htm
but you will also need at least some closer shots showing the detail on these specimens. The first shot for example from this distance looks like a dust lichen, no structure visible at normal vision; but a closer photo might show differently. Please be aware that some lichen identification requires having the specimen itself.

    cheers,
