Labiatae but which genus?

    Looks like Verbena of some kind.

    Yes Tyrlich, Quite right. When I photographed the flowers and upper section of the plant, I said to myself that the flowers are similar ro Verbena officinalis. What misled me was the the robustness of the plant. I have many photographs of Verbena officinalis in my archive but these specimens are all very thin with tiny leaves. It is however Verbena officinalis.
