Is this Rot???

    I bought this cactus and it has this yellow color, the cactus' color is yellow green but the one of the lower part has this yellow color. Could you checki it out and see? And while you're at it can you please name its species and distinguish if it is a cacti or a succulent, much appreciated.

    the yellow part was actually long, i just sliced the green part away from it so that i can propagate it

    I would remove the yellow stem. I don't think it is rot, but it looks sick.
    It is not a cactus, more likely a carrion flower (Hoodia, Huernia, Stapelia, I have never learned what separates them).

    hey thanks, i researched and i figured its stapelia, kind of disappointed to realize that it wasnt a cacti though
