I moved into my first house and have a bunch of shrubs in the front yard. I need to figure out how to prune them, and I'm totally clueless about plants.

Dwarf Alberta Spruce Picea glauca var. albertiana 'Conica'. Best not pruned other than to remove dead foliage, or any stray shoots that develop vigorous non-dwarf growth.

Excellent. Do you think I'm safe to assume that, since it is a dwarf, it is OK to keep it this close to the foundation? I wondered whether the roots might damage the foundation if this tree gets too big.

Yep, safe to keep close up, as long as you prune out any vigorous shoots that might appear.
