How do I prune Romneya during the growing season. I didn't have very many flowers this year although I fertilzed fairly regularily, every month with an all purpose fertilizer. The stems became very thick and fell over after the first heavy rainfall. Some of the stems were up the 3/4 inch thick. Do I need to take the bigger shoots out to enable the plant to establish new growth?

I see no scope for cutting back a plant like this. I would discontinue the fertilizer and see what happens.

Thanks. We will give that a try. The plant is very healthy....to the point where a
person who owns a local nursery said she'd never seen one as healthy as the one
we have, so we are extremely careful to make sure we don't do something to it that
    it doesn't like.
