Hosta

    The following was received via email:

    There are some hostas near the Botanical Garden entrance, with long, narrow, shiny leaves. What are they?

    They are most likely Hosta rectifolia.

    While they may in fact be H. rectifolia, they are more probably Hosta lancifolia (lance, or narrow-leaved Hosta). These are located about 100 feet inside the garden along both sides of Asian Way, the main paved pathway into the garden.
