Does anybody have an idea as to what this fungus is? It seems to be bursting out of the bark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very interesting! There are not many fungi with this vivid reddish colour in our region, so that narrows the choices, however the non-native substrate may increase the possibilities.
    - Nectria immediately comes to mind: Could you let me know the scale of this photo, as what is the approximate diameter of each these fruiting bodies? Half-centimeter?
    - Also, are any of them "shelving" , as in are any of them curving over at the top and forming a horizontal wee shelf? If so there is another local fungus possibility.
    Thanks for posting this!
