my cactus is rotting. today i removed the mushy soft parts and dried it with paper towels. i don't have that powder, which is mentioned in several videos i've watched on YouTube today. the roots look ok to me. ive been letting the cactus dry outside of its pot for a couple days, but only removed the rotten parts tofay...

do you think it can survive?

Powder (sulfur? rooting powder?) is not necessary, neither is paper towels.
Will it survive? Maybe. The wound is large, and it is possible that it will lose too much water. Something that concerns me more is the discolourations in the third photo, it looks as if you did not remove all the infected tissue.
